Why Revelation is One of the Best Books You'll Ever Read! (Part 1)

Updated: Dec 29, 2018

The introductory words, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ," may have been the title John gave his letter. What higher recommendation could it have? This phrase can be understood to mean either that the visions were from Jesus or about Jesus.

Revelation is saturated with Jesus. His titles or allusions to Him appear 49 times in Chapter 1, 39 times in Chapter 2 and 49 times in Chapter 3. He is the Creator, the Eternal, the Almighty, the God of Heaven, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Bright and Morning Star, the Root of David and the Holy One. Altogether, nineteen descriptive names of Him appear within the book.

It's also extremely interesting; Revelation is more apocalyptic than prophetic. There is a distinct difference. Apocalyptic writings are marked by distinctive literary features, particularly predicting future events and accounts of visionary experiences or journeys to Heaven, often involving vivid symbolism.

Another thing: Revelation is the only book in the Bible that promises a special blessing, just for reading it. None of the other 66 books of the Bible contain a promise like this. That word "blessed" is the same Greek word used in Matthew 5:1-12 of beatitudes (blessed are the poor in spirit, etc.). There are nine beatitudes in Matthew and seven in Revelation - see if you can find them!

In conclusion, the Book of Revelation is one of the best books in the Bible you can read! So what are you waiting for, start today and grow your relationship with God!

AMEN.
